My name is Alonso Espinosa Domínguez. I am an aspiring mathematician currently based in Texas. I completed an undergraduate degree in mathematics in 2020, spent several years away from the subject, and am now making my way back.
Generally, the mathematical questions I am most drawn to and most likely to write about on here fall somewhere in the intersections of analysis, topology, geometry, mathematical foundations, and the parts of algebra most relevant to the former areas. Currently, in addition to reviewing the basics, I am thinking a lot about the “Periodic Decomposition Problem” on one hand, and 3-dimensional topology (knots on 3-manifolds and the Kauffman Bracket Skein Module) on the other. I am also deeply interested in the history and philosophy of mathematics — particularly in taking seriously the idea that mathematical practice is a human and social activity, shaped by the same forces that shape everything else.
The longer version of all of this is in Returning, Not Repeating.
